Westmont
Westmont
Located about 25 miles west of downtown Chicago, Westmont is a village of approximately 25,000 residents. It is the most quickly changing near-western suburb, as the local government has been promoting gentrification of both residential and non-residential properties. The complexion of the quaint downtown is more appealing than ever. Westmont is located along the Burlington-Northern/Santa Fe Railway and offers a 30 minute commute into downtown Chicago. Westmont is serpentine-like in shape where its northern boundary borders Oak Brook and its southern boundary borders Darien. In the northern sections of town, it has the look and feel of a typical Midwestern town, anchored by its own quaint central business district. Just south of town, it has a more suburban feel as it is primarily residential in character and the lots tend to be larger. In fact, south of 55th Street, many of the residents are serviced by the prestigious Hinsdale Central High School.
Westmont maintains over 150 acres of its own park land. One of the more popular parks is a water park donated to the village by Ty Warner, the founder of Beanie Babies.
Westmont is the most affordable of the near-western suburbs.
